Community Post
Community Post supports non-profit organisations by donating postage-included envelopes to a wide range of community groups throughout New Zealand - from woman's refuges, hospices and centres for people with disabilities to sports, cultural and environmental groups. In 2007 we sent out more than 1.5 million Community Post envelopes to successful groups around the country. Applications are now open.
Wellington Writers Walk
We are pleased to be supporting the Wellington Writers Walk with a Sonnet writing competition to raise profile or the Writers Walk on Wellington's waterfront.
The Wellington Sonnet Competition 2008 is organised and administered by the small group of volunteers that oversees the ongoing development of the Wellington Writers Walk along Wellington's waterfront.
The Walk is an iconic installation and the volunteer effort required for its continuance is deserving of our support.

Variety Bash
New Zealand Post is a proud sponsor of The Variety Bash. The Bash attracts dedicated individual and corporate crews from across the country and Australia, with some people having participated since its inception in 1990. The Bash covers almost 1,500km and visits more than 60 primary schools.is the Bash aims to raise money for New Zealand children, assist communities that work with children in their fundraising, and bring magic and fun to the schools and communities they visit.
What Now
What Now the well known children's television programme has a new character proudly brought to you by New Zealand Post. Red, the Mailbot scoots onto the set each week, delivering mail from children across the country - including the eagerly-awaited prize-winning 'Red's Hot Letter of the Week'. With the help of New Zealand Post every child who sends mail to the show receives a posted response from What Now that includes a collectable postcard for kids to send on from home. We want to share the magic of sending and receiving with the children of New Zealand.

Literacy Aotearoa
Not being able to read and write makes life very difficult for thousands of New Zealand adults. Reading a postcard from a loved one, filling out a form, or paying a bill are impossible actions for many people.
New Zealand Post is committed to improving literacy with our support for Literacy Aotearoa - a national organisation that delivers accessible, quality literacy services to the people of New Zealand Aotearoa. Learning programmes are offered in a range of environments including maraes, homes, prisons, community houses and workplaces.
New Zealand Post National Schools Poetry Awards and Writing Festival
New Zealand Post will again be supporting the New Zealand Post National Schools Poetry Awards and National Schools Writing Festival. Run by Victoria University’s International Institute of Modern Letters, the Awards and Festival aim to give Years 12 and 13 students the chance to be recognised for their writing skills and also help develop their interest in the literary field.
New Zealand Post Book Award for Children and Young Adults
New Zealand Post has been sponsoring the New Zealand Post Book Awards for Children and Young Adults for over 10 years. The awards are presented annually to promote excellence in children’s literature and provide recognition and reward for authors and illustrators of high quality New Zealand Books for children and young adults.
Books in Homes
New Zealand Post is a proud supporter of the Books in Homes programme which helps bring the work of our top New Zealand writers and illustrators to Kiwi children. New Zealand Post buys and distributes copies of the finalist books from the New Zealand Post Book Awards for Children and Young Adults to schools involved in the Books in Homes programme. To support the programme New Zealand Post people visit local schools to donate the books and present the New Zealand Post Great Effort in Reading and Writing Awards to children.
New Zealand Post Mansfield Prize
New Zealand Post Group and the Katherine Mansfield Menton Trust have added a new sponsorship to New Zealand's top tier of literary awards.
The New Zealand Post Mansfield prize sits alongside the Michael King Fellowship for senior writers. It includes a stipend for the successful author to produce a work of literature; inspired by residency at the villa Isola Bella in Menton, France, where iconic writer Katherine Mansfield lived and wrote. The size of the prize ensures the Fellowship gives the recipient a significant reward and raises the profile of New Zealand literary successes.
Previous recipients include Janet Frame, Lloyd Jones, Whiti Ihimaera, Vincent O'Sullivan and Dame Fiona Kidman.

New Zealand Post Writers and Readers Week
Reflecting our enduring relationship with the literary arts, as well as our love of a good story, every two years we sponsor the New Zealand Post Writers and Readers Week as part of the New Zealand International Festival of the Arts.
New Zealand Post Writers and Readers Week is a core festival event featuring top New Zealand and international writers. The 2008 line-up includes many well renowned writers.
Auckland Theatre Company and Literary Unit
Formed 15 years ago, the Auckland Theatre Company (ATC) is a core part of Auckland’s cultural heart and one of the country's most significant theatre companies. Auckland Theatre Company also has the country's only theatre-based Literary Unit dedicated to developing new New Zealand work. We're excited to be working with them to help bring audiences a provocative, entertaining and enriching season of work over the next year.
The Rutherford Trust
New Zealand Post continues its support of New Zealand's culture and heritage by sponsoring the Rutherford Trust touring art collection.
The Rutherford Trust was established in 1988 to "encourage and enhance New Zealand’s cultural life and heritage" and to create a collection that reflects the development of 20th century New Zealand art, where excellence of achievement, rather than fashion, is the key criterion.
