About Community Post

Applications for Community Post 2008 are now closed. If you would like to be informed about Community Post in the future please register your interest here.

For more information, or to make an enquiry, please email communitypost@nzpost.co.nz.

What are the eligibility criteria?

To allow the free postage-included envelopes to make a difference to as many people as possible, Community Post makes donations under five categories:

  • Education
  • Health and welfare
  • Sport and recreation
  • Arts and culture
  • Environment

Commercial ventures, completed or retrospective projects and projects that promote or benefit an individual will not be eligible. Activities that fall into the area of local or central government are also not generally considered as eligible by the Community Post Board.

How do we decide how to allocate Community Post?

Each region has a dedicated Community Post Board made up of members of the local community and our staff.  Each Board makes allocations on the region's specific needs.  Envelopes are given to community groups that can demonstrate how they will help them perform a community service. Envelope allocations for each region are based on population calculated from Statistics New Zealand.

When do applicants receive envelopes?

Applications close 31 August. Regional Boards meet in September and all successful groups will receive their Community Post envelopes by 31 October.
