
Holding your business mail
If you’re planning to be away from your business for a short time, we can hold your mail for you. Just let us know at least three working days before you need the service.
When you use our Hold service, all mail going to your business address will be kept safe and secure until you return. We can hold your mail for as little as one day or for up to 12 weeks at a time. That includes all letter mail, parcel items up to 3kg, and unaddressed mail that is postie delivered as well as Rural Delivery.
Once your hold expires, your mail will be delivered to your normal business address unless you ask us to extend your Hold.
There are some things that cannot be put on Hold
- ParcelPost™ Tracked and CourierPost items
- Mail delivered by other postal operators
- Newspapers and unaddressed mail
Put your business mail on Hold at any PostShop
Simply complete a Hold service application (available at your local PostShop) and take it to your local PostShop. Please make sure you take some identification with you such as your passport or driver’s licence.

The fee for holding your mail will depend on how long you want your mail held for, and whether you are a commercial organisation or a charity, not for profit organisation or school:

You can extend, reduce or cancel your Hold service request at any time by going to any PostShop and selected New Zealand Post retail outlets.
